GMail: growing pains?
March 20th, 2006
All day today it’s been increasingly difficult to access one of my GMail accounts. My brother had the same problem yesterday with his account.
I started seeing plenty of “Oops… the system was unable to perform your operation. Please try again in a few seconds.”

After a while, these turned into outright “Server errors.”

What’s interesting is that if I clear the google cookies I can login to my other GMail account. As I’m writing this I managed to get into my main account, but it’s now unresponsive again.
It’s understandable that different accounts work, since more than likely these are hosted on different servers. However, from what I’ve experienced the past month, I seem to have gotten one of the worst servers in GMail’s farm.
What do you think? Is your GMail account working 24/7? How often do you see these errors while working with GMail?

Mine works fine pretty much all of the time. I check it via pop and sometimes a message will get stuck in my outbox, but that’s all.

Ok. I’m not using POP access because I actually like the web interface and search speed. I’d hate to have to switch to a POP client since I constantly use two computers and it’d be a hassle to keep things synchronized.
